Welcome To IKWETA CONSORTIUM CO.

We are members of the Tanzania beekeepers association and Producers of Sweet organic Tanzania honey, beeswax and all hive products since 1997.

IKWETA CONSORTIUM CO. is a private limited company established in 1996 by Mr. J. R. MPATE, The business concept was to fully engage in the apiculture industry, which as preliminary studies showed, had commercial potential coupled with social and economic benefits for the poor rural communities. From its head office located in Arusha, Tanzania, the concept became reality with the commissioning of a honey processing plant. The plant, built to exacting specifications, has the latest high-tech bespoke automated production line specially designed and manufactured in Denmark. As a private business venture, IKWETA CONSORTIUM CO is proud of its contribution to Tanzania’s poverty eradication programme.

From our headquarters in Arusha, we deploy centre managers and field harvest officers for each of the four districts Kongwa, Kilosa, Ruaha basin, Itigi, in central part of Tanzania.  Fully trained and professionally qualified officers they maintain continuous contact with lead beekeepers, beekeeper groups and individual beekeepers.  Intense training is provided to the lead beekeepers to enable them to cascade the training to the more remote farmers who are unable to reach the training centres.  Our field harvesters maintain and inspect logs of activity at the hives and assist beekeepers during harvest thus controlling quality and increasing yields. The field harvest officers collect and store the products in high-quality food grade plastic containers each with a re-sealable, airtight and leak proof lid for transportation to the processing plant where quality control checks are carried out before entering the stores.  The honey is subjected to further laboratory and classification tests for viscosity, colour and type before being processed and packaged.
